Presentation to the Finance Minister Mr. Shaukat Tareen and Joint Investment Companies

A detailed presentation was given on the company, activities, projects and plans for the future. The Joint Investment Companies appreciated the initiatives taken by NIP and showed a keen interest in exploring avenues for further investment. |

Presentation to Lotte Group
A detailed Company presentation was given by CEO NIP & his management team to the visiting delegates of the South Korean business giant M/s Lotte Group on 15 December 2009. The meeting organized by the Board of Investment (BOI) gave an opportunity to NIP to highlight its various industrial parks projects to the visitors who are keen to invest in Pakistan in the food processing, agriculture, dairy farming and light engineering sectors. Certain select leading entrepreneurs representing various businesses were also invited to interact with the South Koreans and discuss areas for potential investment in their respective fields. Contacts have been established with the distinguished guests which will be followed up for future prospects. |

Visit of Yamaha Japan to Bin Qasim Industrial Park
Mr. Naruhisa Wakata, Senior Manager, Overseas Production Division, Yamaha Motor Co.Ltd. of Japan exclusively visited Pakistan in early December 2009 to evaluate the viability of setting up their manufacturing facility at the Bin Qasim Industrial Park (BQIP). Mr. Wakata was accompanied by Senior Management of their local liaison, M/s National Engineering Consultants NEC). The distinguished guests were welcomed by the CEO NIP and his Management team and were given a comprehensive presentation on the BQIP project. This followed a detailed site visit to apprise the visitors of the exact location and to review the progress of the infrastructure development work on ground.
Subsequently a meeting was held at NIP Head Office the following day in which various queries highlighted by Mr. Wakata and M/s NEC were addressed. Overall Mr. Wakata appreciated NIP’s efforts in developing such a modern Industrial Park and showed Yamaha’s keen interest in acquiring land at BQIP and both parties agreed to remain in contact to pursue this matter further.

A group of Houston based Pakistan entrepreneurs representing the expatriate Business community visited Textile City & NIP Head Office. A comprehensive presentation about the Company & its projects was given along with an interactive Q & A session.
Ways in which NIP projects could be promoted in the USA were discussed at length. The Texas Trade Council committed to disseminate information about our projects to prospecting investors on a continuous basis. |

Meeting with Leather sector officials/entrepreneurs
Consequent to the interest shown by the leather garment sector in acquiring land at KCIP/BQIP; a meeting was held with Mr. Warren Weinstein, Country Director, J.E. Austin Associates Inc.(Consultants) along with entrepreneurs/representatives of leather garment manufacturers & exporters. The CEO, NIP welcomed the delegates and gave a brief profile of NIP & its activities. The Sales & Marketing team made a presentation highlighting the KCIP/BQIP projects.
The visitors appreciated NIP’s efforts and seemed interested to acquire a block of land at BQIP where a few prominent leather garments manufacturers & exporters could be accommodated. They will be discussing this with the individual stakeholders in their sector and with their Association in order to seek a way forward. |

Visit of delegation of Pakistan Japan Business Forum (PJBF)
Further to the visit of Chairman/Minister of State – BOI a delegation of PJBF along with their Chairman visited the NIP Head Office. The delegation included local senior businessmen, senior executives of Japanese multinationals, representatives of Japan Consulate and Japanese trade development bodies. The distinguished guests were given a detailed presentation on NIP’s activities & our various projects.
The PJBF delegates appreciated NIP’s efforts in developing such world class industrial parks and felt that jointly they can promote BQIP to attract Japanese investment. They advised that they could draw industrial units in the field of auto parts, chemicals and food processing. They were interested in acquiring 500 acres of undeveloped land at BQIP, however emphasized that the price has to be attractive to motivate Japanese investors. |

Minister of State/Chairman Board of Investment visited NIP Head Office
The establishment of industrial parks will accelerate the focused industrial growth in the country and create employment opportunities for the skilled labours. This was stated by the Minster of State and Chairman Board of Investment (BoI), Mr. Saleem H. Mandviwala during a briefing given to him by Mr. Zubair Habib, the CEO of the National Industrial Parks Development and Management Company (NIP) at its Head Office on Saturday January 10, 2009.
The minister appreciated the projects being offered by the Company which include Korangi Industrial Park, Bin Qasim Industrial Park at Karachi and Auto Cluster Industrial Park at Lahore and directed not to compromise on standard. Mr. Saleem H. Mandviwala also assured that the BOI would extend all assistance to introduce NIP to national and international forums to woo entrepreneurs for making investment in NIP projects.

A contract has been signed between National Industrial Parks Development & Management Company (NIP) & Engineering Associates (EA) for design and construction supervision of Bin Qasim Industrial Park (BQIP) – A project of NIP.
The park is being set up on 930 acres of land at Pakistan Steel Downstream Industrial Estate, in Karachi for medium and large industrial units.

President Pervez Mushrraf, today laid the foundation Stone of Bin Qasim Industrial Parks (BQIP).
Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation and National Industrial Parks Management and Development Company (NIP) entered in to an Agreement for development and marketing of an industrial park on 930 acres of land at Bin Qasim. This is second such project undertaken by the Company. Korangi Creek Industrial Park (KCIP) being the first.
BQIP will provide infrastructure at par with international standards and will cater to the business need of medium and large enterprises. The Park is being developed with a focus on provision of salient features integral to an industrial park. It is proposed to accommodate those clusters with linkages to the existing Down-Stream Industrial Estate and Small & Medium scale industries based on plastic sector, electronics and food and beverage production units.
BQIP will have integrated road network, sewerage and effluent treatment plant and solid waste management in addition to the provision of essential support facilities, utilities and implementation of environmental standards. The developed land will be marketed at a price of Rs.7 million per acre. The initial concept of the project has been developed by M/S Jurong Consultants Private Limited of Singapore.

Mr. Salmaan Taseer, Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives along with Mr. Shahab Khawaja, Federal Secretary, on 18th December,2007 visited the National Industrial Parks Development & Management Company office. He was given a comprehensive briefing on the on-going projects of the Company by Mr. Salman Burney, Chairman and Mr. Zubair Habib, Chief Executive.
The Minister was very impressed with the concept of Industrial Parks and appreciated the focused clustering of the industrial units at the Korangi Creek Industrial Park and directed the Company to arrange commercial launch of the project as soon as possible.
He also emphasized the need for ensuring complete transparency so that the genuine entrepreneurs come forward to establish the industries.
He asked the management to fast track the proposal for setting up of 48MW Power Plant at the park to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the potential entrepreneurs.

Federal Minister for Industries, Production & Special Initiatives, Mr. Jahangir Khan Tareen, today performed the ground-breaking ceremony of the Auto Cluster Industrial Park being developed by company at Shiekhupura Road.
The Park spread over an area of over 170 acres is based on the ages old cliché ‘Small is Beautiful’, which entails setting up of Clusters, focused on specific industries. In this project auto vendors will be provided manufacturing, assembling and warehousing facilities.
The Park accessible from the Lahore-Shiekhupura Motorway Interchange and from the city centre will ensure timely deliveries to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the vicinity, enabling auto manufacturers to increase their production and add revenue generation to the entire supply chain.
The Company plans to offer plot sizes ranging from 4 to 16 kanals to the potential entrepreneur along with all essential amenities such as road, drainage & sewerage, power, gas and water supply besides providing training facilities to enhance the skills of manpower in the auto sector.

Mr. Jehangir Khan Tareen Federal Minister of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives inaugurated National Industrial Parks Development & Management Company’s (NIP) Regional Office North located at 301, Siddiq Trade Centre, Lahore by unveiling the plaque, on the March 9, 2007, The inaugural ceremony was attended by leading Industrialists and members of Trade & Industry.
Mr. Mohsin Syed, Regional Director North presented the welcome address Mr. Syed emphasized that if a one window facility is provided to industrialists, they are willing to invest billions of rupees in their country.
Mr. Jahangir Khan Tareen in his address reiterated the Government’s resolve to provide infrastructure for industrial investment which would lead to jobs for the people. He emphasized that it was of utmost importance that projects are setup in Punjab, NWFP and FATA so that people of these areas can reap benefits of industrialization.
Mr Jahangir Khan Tareen assured of the Government’s support in the development of World Class Industrial Parks all over the Country. Mr Jahangir Khan Tareen, also appreciated the services rendered by Mr. Mohsin Syed as Chairman of Punjab Industrial Estate, and his role in the development of Sundar Industrial Estate.
